Cancellation + Billing Policies

Cancellation Notice

  • 24-Hour Notice Requirement: A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel a lesson. You must contact your instructor directly to inform them of a cancellation. If less notice is provided, the lesson will be forfeited, and no make-up lesson will be offered.

  • Same-Day Cancellations: No make-up lessons will be provided for same-day cancellations, regardless of the reason.

Make-Up Lessons

  • To reschedule a missed lesson, you must contact your instructor directly.

  • Lessons canceled with at least 24 hours’ notice may be rescheduled within 30 days of the original date.

  • If a make-up lesson is canceled, no additional make-up lesson will be provided.

Schedule Changes and Lesson Minimums

  • Notify your instructor of any schedule changes or termination of lessons before the first day of the upcoming month to ensure accurate billing.

  • A minimum of three lessons per month, on a recurring basis, is required to maintain your spot in the program.  July and August are exempt from this requirement; however, if you take the summer off, a deposit must be paid to secure a spot for a return in September. Please note your original lesson time is not guaranteed upon return.

Billing Information

  • Billing is calculated based on the number of lesson days in the month. For example, if there are five Mondays in a month and your lesson is on Mondays, you would be billed for five lessons.

  • All lessons are billed to your credit card on file on the 1st day of each month.

  • You will automatically receive a copy of your invoice via email after the payment has been applied. If you download the invoice, you can view more detailed information about your bill. If you are not receiving these emails please contact us to confirm your email address.

  • Lesson pricing is tiered: If you exceed your selected lesson package, additional lessons will be charged at the per-lesson rate within your pricing tier.

Thank you for adhering to these policies, which help us keep the program running smoothly for everyone. If you have any questions, please reach out to your instructor or email us at: info@teesdale.ca.

Adverse Summer Weather and Smoke Policy

Extreme heat and smoke can cause health problems for humans and horses alike. Since the horses cannot advocate for themselves, it is our duty to prioritize their wellbeing. Below is an outline of our summer weather policies.

We will be using these policies as a guideline to help make the best decision for both horses and riders. Given Alberta's rapidly changing weather, some decisions may need to be made on short notice. We appreciate your understanding and patience in these situations.

Hot Weather

  • Heat above 32°C: Lessons will be conducted indoors and/or at a lower intensity. Horses will be turned out early in the morning and brought in before temperatures peak.

  • Heat above 38°C: Horses will remain inside and lessons will be canceled.

Wildfire Smoke and/or Poor Air Quality

  • Air Quality Index 6-9: Lessons will be moved inside and conducted at a lower intensity.

  • Air Quality Index Greater Than 9: Lessons will be canceled

In the event of a summer weather cancellation (excessive heat or smoke) students will be given the option to attend a theoretical lesson, or schedule a make-up lesson.

In a theoretical lesson, students will learn about horse health and horsemanship; important information that will complement their riding journey. They will take place during regular lesson times, and within groups appropriate for each student's level. Parents are welcome and encouraged to join these lessons at no extra cost.

Some examples of topics covered in a theoretical lesson:

  • Proper grooming and tacking up

  • Points of the horse and correct terminology

  • Correct safety protocols on and around horses

  • Wrapping, boots and bandaging - how, when and why

  • Taking tack apart and putting back together again, while learning the correct names and uses for different tack

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in prioritizing the health and safety of both our students and horses. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out: info@teesdale.ca
